Jingle Rails

Last week we took the kiddos on a field trip to the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art.  The museum is fabulous and I always look forward to this trip.  This time there was an extra special activity, Jingle Rails.  I had heard wonderful things, but had never seen it for myself.

The museum exhibit features seven different trains "crossing the country".  Obviously one focus is downtown Indianapolis, complete with the Monument Circle, Union Station, Lucas Oil Stadium, etc. but also including national landmarks such as Old Faithful, The Grand Canyon, and Mount Rushmore.  What makes this exhibit all that more spectacular is that everything is created from natural materials.  There are 13 walk under bridges and nearly 1,200 feet of track.  It is a delight for any train enthusiast, especially the little ones.

Now just settle in for a minute and prepare for photo overload......there were just too many cool things to leave anything out :).

The Jingle Rails exhibit runs through January 19th, so you still have a chance to check out the craftsmanship yourself.

Merry, Merry!!
