Five on Friday [10.7.17]

Happy Friday!!  So excited it's Friday!  Fall Break is next week and we have the entire week off!!  The icing on the cake is that I'm kicking it off with an old friend tonight attending the Symphony featuring Joshua Bell as the soloist!  So. excited.  For now, though, here are this week's five:

ONE
I shared these darling Halloween plates that dear friend KF uses in her home earlier this week.  They really are just too cute!

TWO
Our 4th graders visited the State House this week.  Both our district Senator and Representative were kind enough to come talk with the kiddos.  Even with all that is going on in our country right now, this trip never fails to remind me just how grateful I am to be an American.

THREE
The first Thursday of every month the Indianapolis Museum of Art offers free admission.  I took advantage of a rainy afternoon and strolled through the exhibits. I was instantly transported me back to Paris -- when I visited the Louvre every single day for a month.

FOUR
Hubby and I rented HBO's Big Little Lies last weekend.  I knew I loved the book, and while the book is usually better than the movie (or series, in this case) this was pretty darn good.  Hubby even got into it!

FIVE
This weekend Peyton Manning is being inducted into the Colts' Ring of Honor.  Boy, do we miss him! He did BIG things for our city, far beyond the football field, and how very lucky we were to have him!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Five on Friday [9.29.17]

Happy Friday!  I can hardly believe that October is here!  It's been in the 90s this week, but things are supposed to feel like Fall this weekend.  Looking forward to a quiet little weekend with Hubby.  Until then, here are this week's five:

ONE
Last week was Peace Week in honor of the International Day of Peace.  Our incredible art teacher completed this stunning project with every child in our school.  They each created a feather which symbolizes something, someone, or somewhere that makes them feel peaceful.  She then compiled them into these angel wings.  We've been snapping pics of the kiddos posing with their angel wings all week.  Truly awesome.

TWO
I have been enjoying some Greek Mountain Tea as my afternoon treat in this Rae Dunn mug.  It also serves as a gentle reminder to breathe through the afternoon chaos that is fourth grade.  Ha.

THREE
Along with the chaos, however, come these sweet little love notes that make everything worthwhile.

FOUR
Have y'all tried Spindrift Seltzer Water??  Dear friend DR shared some the other day and I'm hooked!  The grapefruit is my fave and Costco has a great price!

FIVE
Since apparently this week my five are all about what I'm drinking, I'd be remiss if I didn't share my fave honey latte.  Such a yummy morning treat.  I shared the recipe earlier this week.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Five on Friday [9.15.17]

Happy Friday!  It's been quite a week, so without further ado, here are this week's five:

ONE
Hubby and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary this week.  How time flies.

TWO
We took our 4th grade kiddos on a field trip to the Indianapolis Museum of Art. It's incredible to see things through the eyes of a child.  One might think "boring art museum" but they loved it.  Our art teacher is clearly doing a great job.

THREE
These three have visited me a couple times this week on my morning walk.

The moon shines on the first half of my walk.  Then I turn the corner and the sun is rising on the second half.  It's pretty awesome, actually.

FOUR
The Le Creuset Oulet opens today!  This could mean trouble, friends.  I may have even mentioned something to Hubby about getting a job there.....

FIVE
Trying to remember...

Five on Friday [8.4.17]

Happy Friday!  We like to celebrate the little things around this hive, but, to be completely honest, this week we're celebrating that we made it through the first week of school!  Now, without further ado, here's this week's five:

ONE
I was so very happy to see my kiddos this week!  While I enjoy not having school, I sure do miss them.  However, it's crazy how exhausting the first few days are.  How do I forget this from year to year??  Hubby surprised me with a little trip for ice cream after school as a sweet surprise.

TWO
I ordered this cardigan from Nordstrom Rack (at nearly $60 off!!!) and I can almost hardly wait for the cooler temperatures.  (Almost....for now I'm still enjoying every minute at the pool....)

THREE
We tried zoodles for the first time last night.  While the verdict is still out, and we're still perfecting them before sharing a recipe, we certainly see potential.  Hubby loved them and it might be kind of nice to sneak in some extra veggies.  Anyone have a go-to recipe they use?

FOUR
Aunt MRM and I visited The Garden Table recently featuring delicious local food, yummy juices, and a darling atmosphere.  The visit even inspired our own juicing affair with great success.  Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

FIVE
This is completely random, but we've tried absolutely everything to clean the grout in our kitchen, to no avail.  But last weekend we finally discovered something that worked!!  While it was slightly time consuming, it was easy and yielded great results.  Working in sections, spread Clorox Clinging Bleach Gel over grout and let it sit for 10 minutes.  Scrub with a toothbrush.  Let sit for five more minutes.  Wipe clean with a damp cloth or papertowel.  Mop floor when finished.  I did try a litle inconspicuous section in the mudroom before tackling the whole kitchen to confirm no damage to the tile itself.  We didn't have any problem.  I'd post a before and after picture, but I'm too embarrased to share.....just trust me, it really did work!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Five on Friday [7.28.17]

Happy Friday!  This is the first Friday in a long time that I'm feeling a little blue.  Number one will explain why....

ONE
We start school on Monday and I am soooo not ready.  This summer seemed to fly by and with my little hospital stay and health stuff that's been going on, I don't really feel like it's time for it to be over.  But, ready or not, we go Monday and the kiddos will join us Wednesday.  It will be great to see them.  If only we could say hi and then get a few more weeks off :).

TWO
I don't know if I've been living under a rock, but just in case you haven't heard of them either, I've discovered Okulai shoes.  So. very. comfortable.

THREE
Hubby and I enjoyed a spectacular dinner last weekend with dear friends MDR and SK at Ruth's Chris.  It was absolutely delicious, the company just terrific, and an extended little b-day celebration for Hubby.  I must admit after being "heart healthy" for over a month the steak was pretty divine.

FOUR
This isn't all that exciting, but for me anything that makes a bowl of oatmeal a little more tolerable is....I've been adding dates to my morning bowl with a drizzle of honey.  Such an easy twist to the traditional.

FIVE
A little perspective as schedules are about to get more hectic:

Sometimes it takes a set back to realize we need to slow down and replenish, we can't do it all, here's an honest from the heart post about creative burnout

Five on Friday [7.21.17]

Happy Friday!!  I can hardly believe it, but we only have one more week of summer break.  I'm going to try my hardest to relax and enjoy every last moment.  So, without further ado, here are this week's five:

ONE
Our garden is producing cucumbers like crazy!  We picked 20 in one day alone, not that we're complaining in the least!  We took the opportunity to whip up some quick refrigerator pickles and have enjoyed horiatiki (Greek salad) every night.

TWO
I hurried home each day this week in hopes of hiding the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale boxes before Hubby got home.  I missed this simple dress the first time around, but after trying on a friends just might have to order one myself.  It's perfect to dress up or wear casually with little flats. Anything with ruffles and I'm sold!  It would look pretty cute with this classic necklace from J.Crew, too!

THREE
While I did order a couple items from the #nsale, I must confess that I really scored some incredible deals at Nordstrom Rack!  This Bobeau cardigan is a fave.  So very soft and lightweight.  Perfect to layer in both cold weather and cold air conditioning.

FOUR
My mama would have celebrated a big birthday this week and while I'm missing her something fierce, I sometimes have to chuckle....sometimes I open my mouth and she comes out.  It never failes to make my heart smile.  How I wish she were here to hear it herself.

FIVE
I've been trying to convince Hubby to convert a hall closet into built-ins.  I've been unsuccessful so far, but have if you follow me on Pinterest you know I haven't given up yet.  This pin has me swooning and seems like something we could easily to ourselves.  (Well, handy Hubby could!)  Anyone have any tips or tricks??  Or have you done this same and regretted?  Hubby is convinced I'll regret it later....

Five on Friday [7.14.17]

Happy Friday!!  While I'm so happy that it's Friday, with each passing one I'm again reminded that the end of summer is near.  I'm quite simply not yet ready to go back to school.  But until then, I'm holdin on tight....

ONE
Hubby and I celebrated his birthday last night with a quiet dinner at home.  I tried to talk him into going out, but as the thunder boomed and the streets flooded with all the rain, we were quite happy with our decision.  It's just as the saying goes...I love him more than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow.

TWO
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started yesterday, too.  I snagged some good deals and shared some of my wishlist items, but am kind of kicking myself for not picking up this Mac Look in a Box deal....although the sale's not over yet....

Five on Friday [512.17]

Happy Friday!!  Time is simply flying by so quickly!  The end of the school year is nearly upon us and things are just busier than ever.  Here are a few things that have been happening around our happy little hive:

ONE
We are counting down the days until the pool opens.  I mean, were counting down until the last day of school, too, but the pool just as important. Ha.  These Ralph Lauren beach towels are on sale!  I'm a sucker for stripes!

TWO
Dear Friend B surprised me with this darling little coozie.  I can hardly wait to use it on the boat this summer.  And let's just face it, everything is better with a monogram (especially if you combine it with pink and a bow)!!  She knows me well!

THREE
I've been carrying this pink delight since our trip to Florida.  I went a little crazy at the Kate Spade outlet, but it really was an amazing deal.  I LOVE the size.  It's big enough, but just not too big.  Although this one is a little different, it's very similar.   #happybirthdaytome

FOUR
Things have been crazy around here.  Cooking and grocery shopping have fallen by the wayside.  However, we whipped up this yummy little dish the other day.  Seriously so easy!  Perfect for the busy weeknight!

FIVE
Dear friend MDR treated us to a dinner featuring these beauties.  Such a special spring time treat.  My usual secret spots for finding morels hasn't been as productive this year, but we sure enjoyed these.

Friday Five [3.17.17]

Happy Friday!!  It's been a pretty terrific week and we're one week closer to Spring Break.  I can hardly wait!  Now for this week's five:

ONE
While I'm loving this Lilly Pulitzer cover up, I'm thinking this Target special might be the budget friendly find for Spring Break and Summer!

TWO
Bestie MHDRL popped in unexpectedly from Texas for her mom's big b-day this week.  It was such an incredible surprise and I'm soaking up every minute with her and her boys.  My heart is so full!!

THREE
I see this sweet, little reminder on the way to get my hair done.  Never fails to make me smile.

FOUR
Speaking of the new do, my hair is always especially curly after a fresh cut.  One of my darling 3rd graders said, "Mrs. Fitch you have hair like my sister.  I'm so lucky I didn't get it and I have straight hair."  From the mouths of babes...

FIVE
My love of honey bees is no secret.  While we've tried with a few new hives over the last few years, they never manage to make it through the winter.  Sadly, this year is no exception.  Just another example of how in danger they really are.  Cheerios is trying to help though.  They are giving away wildflower seeds in hopes of bringing back the bees!  You can get your seeds here.

Friday Five [3.3.17]

Happy Friday!  Happy March!!  March is one of my favorite months.  It's prospect of warmer weather, spring flowers, and summer being just around the corner.  This year is no different.  It's going to be a big month...BIG things happening with the tennis program, a girls' trip to the beach, Brother #3 is celebrating a BIG birthday, and, if I'm being honest, I'm celebrating an even bigger (or just plain older??) birthday.  But before we get to all of those, here's this week's five

ONE
I've been debating on a pair of Birkenstocks forever, but just can't seem to decide.  If you have a favorite pair I'd love to hear about them!  I think I have it narrowed to this pair or this pair, but am open to suggestions!

TWO
I recently started the The Greek Diet (and have received relentless teasing about the fact that the Greek girl needed to read a book about the Greek diet...it's really just a plan friends, a plan....to eat all those things I grew up eating and loving).  The book talks a lot about Greek Mountain Tea (and the older generations of both my friends and family swear by it).  I ordered some from Amazon and have been sipping on it every afternoon.  I like mine with a bit of honey or lemon. Honestly, it reminds me of all those times growing up sipping (begrudgingly at that point) on chamomile, another Greek staple.

THREE
While I'm actually loving the new eating plan, there are points in which:

FOUR
However, if you're going to eat a salad, eat this one.  Jacques Pepin's recipes never disappoint and this one is no exception.

FIVE
The 3rd grade boys were in a fit of absolute giggles the other day.  One, in particular, was pretty tickled with himself.

SIX
A little extra something this week...but who's counting?

Wishing y'all a wonderful weekend!
