Five on Friday [7.22.16]

It's Friday!!!  Woohoo!!!  I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!  Tomorrow I'm taking off for Texas to visit Bestie MHDRL, meet her newest little one, and snuggle her little man (who's also my best little buddy).  I. just. can't. wait.  So, without further ado, here's this week's five:

ONE
Earlier this week I shared my wish list for Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale.  Then, after reading others' wish lists, I couldn't resist making a second.  It's terrible, I know.....

Happy Hour: [Sweet C's Whimsea Fizz]

Last summer we had a little girls' day on the boat with the most delicious "summer in a cup" cocktail from darling friend Sweet C.  It's quite yummy and the perfect little addition to a day spent floating and sunning....it's dangerously good!

Sweet C's Whimsea Fizz
Ingredients:
  • Deep Eddy Ruby Red Grapefruit Vodka
  • Club Soda
  • Lime wedges
Directions:
  • Simply mix to your own taste -- we go heavy on the lime (and heavy on the Ruby Red, if I'm being honest....).
Happy Happy Hour!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale - Round 2!

Y'all....I have a problem.....as I've scrolled through my blog feed this week I found many so more wish lists for Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale.  Let me tell you, y'all have great taste!  As I read each list my own wish list just kept growing.  So, here we are with wish list #2.  I just can't help myself....too many good items at such great prices.  So, here we go.....

Quilted Vest with Faux Suede Trim
This quilted vest is just too darling.  It really is the perfect Fall staple and is so versatile.  Normally I would be drawn to the blue, but the olive green is calling my name.

While we're at it, could this quilted jacket be any cuter??  I really love the big collar and curved hem. ....not to mention that it's $70 off!!!

This cardigan screams cuddle up in me.  You need to check out the "rust abode heather" color.  Just trust me on this one -  so very pretty!

Another perfect staple that comes in a wide variety of colors (seven to be exact), and the price is hard to beat.  So many ways to dress these up or down, they're the perfect addition to your wardrobe. The hooded version is pretty cute, too!

While this dress might not look like much (or maybe it's just this particular color??)  I can see it transitioning from season to season paired with sandals, ballet flats, leggings, a blanket scarf...the sky's the limit.

About the only thing that keeps popping up time and time again that I just can't seem to get into is the booties.  I can't even put my finger on why, but they just don't make me swoon.  (Especially the peep toe ones -- if it's cold enough to wear boots, shouldn't your toes be covered?)  What am I missing?  Enlighten me, please!!  I want to love them, maybe I'm just being dense :)??

Can't wait to hear more about what's on your wish list (although I'm thinking Hubby would rather I not, haha!)

What's for Dinner [Chicken Pot Pie]

Did you do any shopping at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale over the weekend?  I'd love to hear what you picked up and maybe add a few items to my wish list!  We had a quiet weekend and it was absolutely perfect!

One of my favorite Sunday dinners is a simple roasted chicken.  Whether it's Sticky Chicken, Creole Butter Injected Chicken, or even a Costco rotisserie chicken, it truly is one of my very favorite meals.  As an added bonus, the leftovers make week night dinners so simple.  This chicken pot pie fits that bill perfectly.

Easy Chicken Pot Pie
Ingredients:
  •  2-2 1/2 c. chicken, shredded or cubed
  • 1 package mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 bag frozen mixed vegetables, thawed
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup (Certainly you can use a white sauce mix, but tonight this is what we went with ;).)
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • dash milk
  • 1 t parsley
  • 1 t thyme
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • ready or home made pie crust (one for top only, two for top and bottom)
Directions:
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a saucepan saute onion (and garlic, if desired) in a bit of olive oil.
  • Add mushrooms and cook until soft.
  • Add vegetables and seasonings. Cook 1-2 min.
  • Add soup and chicken.  Heat through.  Thin with milk, as needed.
  • If using two pie crusts line bottom of pie pan with one crust.  Add heated filling and top with second pie crust.  Cut the top to vent and cook for 25-30 minutes, until the crust has browned and the filling is bubbly.
  • Freezer Option: Lots of leftover chicken?  Double the filling, make one pie, and pop the remaining filling into the freezer.  When you're ready to use it, thaw and you're ready to fill a second pie.  Or, for a different twist, thaw and top with biscuits.
Happy Cooking!

Nordstrom Early Access Anniversary Sale

Hey y'all!  I know it's been forever and a day since I've posted, but the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has inspired me to share some of the goodies I've spotted.  I must confess this is my first year with early access, and I'm loving it!!  Without further ado, here are some items on my wish list -- better act fast though because just since I first peeked last night until this morning I had to modify my list as some items have already sold out!

Zella "Live In" Leggings
I've heard nothing but rave reviews about these leggings and since leggings tend to be my winter uniform, they're at the top of my list.   (They have a cropped pair, too, which might just be perfect for Fall.)

This tunic is the perfect pair for the leggings.  Easy peasy, so very comfortable, and comes in a wide variety of colors.

After falling in love with the Kendra Scott tassel pendant from my first Rocksbox set, the Rae pendant was quickly added to my wish list.  It's marked down to $50 and just might make it's way into my shopping bag.

These cardigans are so cozy, just perfect to snuggle up in on chilly evenings.

I've spotted these at Nordstrom Rack -- at a higher price than the anniversary sale, I might add-- but didn't pull the trigger in time.  By the time I went back someone else had scooped them up.  I've been kicking myself ever since.  They are super comfortable, which lately has been a prerequisite for shoes (sadly).  I may or may not have sported them around the store trying to decide.....

My love of Erno Laszlo is no secret.  This would be the perfect time to pick up the cleansing duo or Clarisonic if you've been debating.

So friends, what's on your wish list??  I'd love to hear what's caught your attention!!

Happy Shopping!
