Five on Friday [Je suis Charlie]

ONE
I always feel a little bereft after taking down the Christmas decorations.  This year I compensated by making a giant snowflake wreath for our front door.  It makes me smile as I pull in the driveway....even if the snow itself doesn't.

TWO
Speaking of snow, we started the week with some sleet and ice (and another snow day!), and I've never been more grateful for my Snow Trax.  My daddy gave them to me a few years ago.  They've definitely saved me a few times.  The best part is they slip right over any pair of shoes.  I keep them in the car all winter, just in case.

THREE
I have a confession.  I have a problem.  There, I've said it.  That's the first step, right?  I'm completely obsessed with Blue Bloods.  If you haven't seen it, you need to.  Hubby suggested it one night and I'm utterly hooked.  The fact that there was not just one, but two marathons on during this freezing weather we've had has not helped.  Best show on TV.  Check it out.

FOUR
The 15 minute organizing approach has been working wonderfully.  Balance is my word for the year.  Instead of spending all day over the weekend organizing or cleaning something, I'm spending 15 minutes a day.  Easy Peasy.

FIVE
I'm ending this week with one final image.  I don't typically write about politics here, and am likely never to do so again, but my heart has been heavy this week, thinking of the events in Paris.  Paris is truly my favorite city in the world, and maybe it's because I'm French that this has me shaken, but I think it's more that I'm an American.  I hold our freedoms close to my heart and am grateful I live in the United States. (Even if we weren't represented in Paris along side the other leaders of the world....)  Although the cartoons may not be my type of humor, I vehemently support their right to publish them.  Charlie Hebdo printed their first issue since the attack. This cartoon was their cover:

  1. I like the idea of spending 15 minutes a day organizing. I have so many areas in my home that I need to organize this year so this might work for me!
