What's for Dinner [Sticky Chicken]

I'm not quite sure how this recipe got the name Sticky Chicken, as it turns out beautifully crisp, but I'm not complaining....it's one of the few chicken dishes Hubby will eat.  Bestie B gave this recipe to me many moons ago.  We were in college and it was one of the few dishes we could cook.  In fact, she'd make it when cute boys would come over to study in hopes that the smell would convince them to stay for dinner...usually it worked.....

Sticky Chicken
Ingredients:
  • 2 t salt
  • 1 t paprika
  • 1/4 t black pepper
  • 1/4 t white pepper
  • 1/2 t cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 t garlic powder
  • 1/2 t onion powder
  • 1/2 t thyme
  • 1/2 t oregano
  • 1 whole chicken
Directions:
Mix seasoning together in a bowl.  Pat chicken dry after rinsing.  Rub seasoning over and in bird.  Wrap tightly and refrigerate overnight.  Before cooking fill cavity with one sliced onion and 1/2 lemon.  Roast in 250 degree oven for 5 hours.  *I baste chicken as it cooks.

At this hive the leftover chicken (and bones for broth) are typically turned into Tortellini Chicken Soup.
