Today's the last day of school! Woohoo! There's nothing better in the summer than a relaxing little happy hour on the back porch...a warm summer breeze blowin' in, geraniums blooming, and sweet little chats with the Hubby. We took advantage of the beautiful weather this past weekend, and whipped up an easy, refreshing cocktail...

Five on Friday [5.22.15]
Happy Friday!! I'm excited this morning. For the last few years I've given a little bee talk to our third graders. This year I have a little something special planned. Our sweet neighbor was kind enough to set up an observation hive for me to take in to school. I can't wait to see their reactions! But before then, here's this week's Five on Friday:
ONE
Summer is almost here. We just have a few more days. (Woohoo!!) I made these little countdowns to celebrate.

What's for Dinner? [Marinated London Broil]
The flowers are in full bloom, the sun is shining, and temps are balmy....the perfect weather for grilling. One thing I love most about summer is having "Happy Hour" on the porch while Hubby grills up something yummy for dinner. It's relaxing, easy, and has minimal clean up. (I'm not one that enjoys doing dishes -- and I always manage to use every dish, pot, and pan we own.)
This recipe fits the bill perfectly. I mix up the marinade in the morning, throw it all together, and we're ready. It also fits my freezer marinating perfectly. I make several packages of them when either London Broil or flank steak is on sale.

Target #ThanksaBillion Thank a Teacher
I don't need much more of an excuse to love Target. I mean where else can you go to pick up dish soap and come home with something cute to wear and something fun for the hive?? But, they've given me yet another reason to love them. Target is current running their "Thanks a Billion" thank a teacher program. Take a minute to thank a teacher and Target will donate $25 to their school. It's just that simple.

Countdown to Summer
Summer is just around the corner and we can hardly stand it here in our happy little hive. I decided we needed a little something extra to help get us to the finish line.

Five on Friday [5.15.15]
It's Friday!! Woo-hoo! I don't know how, but the weeks have been dragging and flying by at the same time. So, here's this week's Five on Friday:
ONE
Two weeks, friends, two weeks. That's all we have left of school. In anticipation of summer vacation I whipped up this little summer bucket list. It is by no means extensive, but serves as a fun little reminder to take advantage of the beautiful weather and time with Hubby. (Feel free to print [well, if you're in the Indy area, as some are kind of specific] or use to inspire your own!)

Summer Bucket List 2015
Bucket lists for the different seasons are so fun! Really, it's just a fun to do list. This year I took a little different approach, and whipped up a little printable on Picmonkey. I simply popped it into a frame and will use a dry erase marker to check off the items off as we enjoy doing them.

PSA: Kale Salad
A sweet friend from school just shared an incredible kale salad recipe with me last week. I was planning on making it this week, until my Daddy showed up with a nearly exact replica last week for our family dinner.....from Costco!

A Quiet Birthday Celebration
Hubby and I had his parents over last week for a little birthday celebration in honor of his dad. I'm a big fan of using Punchbowl to send little invitations for all sorts of celebrations, and this was no exception. I chose the fish invitation to set the stage for a "summer is coming" soiree.

Five on Friday [5.8.15]
T.G.I.F.!!!! So happy that it's Friday!! Woo-hoo!!! Let's just get right down to it.
ONE
It has been a long couple weeks at the hive. Just to sum it up: my tennis computer crashed (as in won't even turn on), we need masonry work completed on our front flower box (the entire width of the house), my credit card number was stolen, our hot water heater exploded, and I almost hate to say this, but it's Mother's Day weekend. Certainly, without question, a deserved and important day, just also one of my least favorite days of the year. (Sorry!!) BUT none of these things are really all that bad. Tedious? Yes! Frustrating? Yes!! But, not that bad. (Although it is a large part in why I've been MIA this week.)

A Special Baptism
We had the most wonderful celebration of the sweetest little one this past weekend in Chicago. It was beautiful, full of love, and so moving to be a part of such a timeless tradition. The sweetie didn't utter a peep during the service, but instead kissed her nouna (Godmother) as she waited to be dunked stealing the hearts (I'm sure) not just of her nouna, but every one in the church. She then fittingly reappeared as an angelic beauty in all white, smiling the entire time.
