DIY Monogrammed Pumpkin

I have a confession.  I'm a binge crafter.  I go months and months not crafting anything, but then the urge hits and I knock several projects out, only to again go into a drought again.  The crafts lately have been largely fall related...makes sense right??  Today I'm excited to share a little monogrammed pumpkin.  It was not my original plan for these little pumpkins, but I'm tickled pink with it!!

I spied a chipboard pumpkin album at Michael's yesterday and quickly threw it into the basket along with some pumpkin color paint.  (It was the first time in ages I've not agonized over picking at paint color....figured I couldn't go wrong painting a pumpkin with pumpkin colored paint.  But, I digress....)  Sadly, I was so eager to get cracking I neglected to take any before pictures....

There were four little pumpkins for the album and a ring clip.  I knew I would have to cover the hole in the pumpkins (where the ring clip would hold them together).  It didn't take long to decide on a burlap bow.  Everything's a little better with a bow, right?

First I gave the little pumpkins two coats of paint.  While the paint dried I pulled up this site to generate the monogram I wished to use.  Here's my favorite trick when wanting to trace lettering or wording:  I simply cover the back of the printed paper with chalk.  Yep, just a regular old piece of chalk.  Then placed the monogram where I wanted it on the pumpkin and traced with a pencil.  The chalk left behind the outline of the monogram that I was then able to again trace with a pencil.

I filled in the monogram in black, and may or may not have cheated a little and used a Sharpie instead of paint.  I do know that paint would have been better, or a vinyl sticker better yet, but sometimes I just get too excited to have it finished....All that was left to do was thread the burlap ribbon through the hole and tie a bow.  Currently, it's on an easel with some of our brass candlesticks, although I think it will find many different homes throughout the season.

Happy Fall, Y'all!
