I'm so very privileged to work with a special group of kiddos at school. I've been with the "Compass Program" for many years. I'm in a unique position and get to be with the kids for third, fourth, and fifth grades. By the time they leave us, I'm incredibly attached. I really do love them dearly.
We said goodbye to one of our Compass family members this week who was killed in a car accident last weekend. He was quite an incredible young man, with an enormously caring heart, an inquisitive and intelligent mind, a joy for learning, and a smile and laugh that would light up the room. I've spent a lot of time remembering one of my favorite groups ever this week. There was something so special about the combination of kids in that class. Although they are high schoolers now, they are still my kiddos. It has been incredibly touching to watch our entire Compass family come together to support each other and his family during this tragic time, May his memory be eternal. I know I'll never forget him.
That being said, I just don't know that I have it in me to write a Friday Five today.
Oh Melissa. My heart goes out to you. Elie lost two of her former students earlier this year. It is heartbreaking. They spend so much of their time at school that they really do become one of your own. Will be keeping you and the family in prayer this week.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's so very hard, as your Sweet Elie knows. Just so happy to have known him. Such a special soul.
